 I’m engaged! Now what?

I found my man, but still need my girls.

This is our big day. The day we get to become one and become one family. We wanted to share it with them. We were honored to be able to share this with them.  I wanted to throw a luncheon for my best friends and sisters letting them know that I chose my niece and my oldest friend from childhood to be my Maid of Honors. My fiancé wanted to have his two best friends as his Best Men. So, you see, I thought it was just fitting to have two Best Men and two Maid of Honors. We knew we didn’t want a big bridal party and we wanted an intimate family wedding.  Just let alone, figuring out what to do next was a lot to take it in. So together, we took the next step to planning our wedding. We definitely love everyone in our lives and  we wanted to share it with them, but we just couldn’t choose between my 3 sisters, 1 sister in Australia, a sister-in-law  and our handful of close friends to take part in  our big day.

Throwing this gathering for my girls of course I made my favorite dinner, rosemary & lemon chicken with Australian Crash Hot Potatoes and mixed up some Moscato & Peaches. I also made booklets which had the color scheme for our wedding and ideas I had for my Colorful Señorita Bridal Shower. I bought them each a heart ring, letting them know, that although my heart was already taken, they will always have a piece of my heart with them.

I wanted my friends and sisters to know that although we were having  a small bridal party, I want them to feel included and apart of every aspect of the wedding,  from planning to DIY crafts (that I so love to do). This is so important to me. It isn’t everyday I get to marry the man that cares most about me, the man of my reality, because it’s not a dream anymore. I am so fortunate to have such a man in my life that cares so deeply about me and my happiness, its just an incredible feeling and I want to share that happiness with the  great friends that I have kept through the years. They have been so helpful in taking the time out of their busy schedule to help put glitter on match boxes or cutting cardboard for our table numbers. Whats been even so helpful is their patience and guidance and  just having girl talk while spending that much needed quality time together. Especially when planning can be overwhelming. Sometimes, a bottle of wine shared is the perfect answer.

They say that if you are friends with someone for more than 7 years,

you will be friends for a life time.

These friends are definitely friends for a lifetime. I can’t see myself going through life and growing old with out them.

Same goes for my sisters. I knew they would want to be apart of it all, as many family members often do. One sister chose to host the bridal shower and my sister in law chose the bachelor/bachelorette(since we are doing a  co-ed). I wanted these ladies to know that although my life will be changing,  I wanted them to be part of the change. Not physically moving in and taking my place but the change of me and accompanying me on my journey from Ms. to Mrs.  We have gone through so much together in the years passed. The ups and downs sisters/niece and aunt go through, friends I’ve grown as a sister with, others I’ve gone to grade school with and we grew up together through our adolescents. High school wouldn’t have been the same with out you and my college/ work years were worth those sunday fun-days.

Myself and our friendship grew with each of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help and positive support you have shown me. This is why I wanted all of you to be apart of this experience. To share and continue to grow with me.  We are going to have a ball of a time celebrating two families becoming one.

Will you be my flower girl from Plum Petty Sugar Loungerie

The flowers I bought in Downtown Los Angeles at the Flower Mart. Center pieces and votives Ikea. Mason jars, Trader Joes. “We’re getting married” banner, made by yours truly. At the end of it all, after all  the planning, setting up, cleaning and organizing, nothing beats curling up with a good book and fresh flowers by your bedside.
